MARX NUTTY MADS "DIPPY THE DEEP DIVER" 1963

Great immagination in coming up with these silly creations. They were a joy to have as a kid. I collect them now as when I was young my overly religious father thought they were sinful and a waste of money. For 19 cents they were a bargain. It's cute how he still has a fish biting his rear end after 48 years. Enjoy.

Trivia: The only animal with only one ear is the praying mantis. Now we know what he is praying for.

Did You Know? At the 2009 Frankfurt Book Fair, a German publishing company started a new advertising craze by attaching very small banners to flies and letting them loose around the halls of the fair. Eichorn, whose logo is a fly, decided to attach the lightweight banners with the phrase, "The Publisher of the Fly"to 200 flies to promote their advertising kiosk. The banners were attached using string and wax which would fall off naturally without harming the fly. However, the flies did have some difficulty staying in the air and kept landing on the people all over the convention.

VINTAGE "MARX BRAKE KAR" 1950's PLASTIC and TIN TOY CAR

This is the coolest toy car you could own in the 1950's. It's even cool compared to todays standards. You set the rear lever for how many feet you want the vehicle to travel ,then place the car on the floor and push it forward. It will travel the alloted distance , then come to a brake squeeling halt. It actually sounds like tires screeching on pavement. The neatest thing about this toy is that it doesn't take batteries or anything else. It operates on its own magic from the 1950's. Not bad for a toy over 60 years old. I love it.
Trivia: Elephants are the only animals in the world that can't jump. (Psst, pink elephants do, I've seen them)

Did You Know?  Hundreds of people have built homes-some complete with double beds, furniture and kitchens- in the dark, damp storm drains that run under Las Vegas, Nevada. Despite the risks to their health from disease and venomous snakes and spiders, and a general risk of flooding, the "tunnel people" have set up elaborate camps with beds, bookshelves, wardrobes and even a makeshift shower created from an office water drinking dispenser.

JUST A VINTAGE PLASTIC TOY STATIONWAGON---1960's

This is simply a plastic toy car made in British Hong Kong in the 1960's. But it was more than that to the little tots that have played in their sand boxes with them. We now look upon these vehicles and shake our heads when we think of what would happen if these Stationwagons got into an accident with maybe upto four kids playing in the back. We would be shocked if we knew the number of lives that have been saved since seat belts became manditory. It is still a cute car from the 60's though.
Trivia: Mr. Potato Head was the first toy advertised on TV.

Remember Dear Abby?

Dear Abby:I have always wanted to have my family history traced, but I can't afford to spend a lot of money on it. Any suggestions on how to do it cheaply?

PIG TAILS AND NAKED WOMEN STIRRING COCKTAILS, 1960's UBANGI WOMEN

As I had mentioned earlier, I helped a breadman deliver baked goods to homes on a bread route as a child starting at the age of twelve. Bob was his name. On the side he would also cater to parties of his friends and army buddies. He asked if I could help him at a party after work one Saturday. He would pay me two dollars for my assistance so I agreed. After we did the bread route that day we gathered up everything that was needed at his home. He had a lot of little pails full of pig tails. This was something new to me. Anyway, we drove out to a small town called Inglewood out in the country. Bob started preparing and cooking what was needed. When it came time to feeding this group of party people we did it outside as it was a great night to party outside. I was asked to start  carrying a platter of cooked pig tails around and ask if anyone wanted some. Coming from a family with a "bible thumping" father I was pretty naive as I soon found out. I could not understand why people were giggling and having a good laugh when I asked, as I walked to individual party goers , if they would like "a piece of tail". I was confused but the people were nice to me anyways. It was a few weeks later when my friends informed me what a "piece of tail" meant. I laugh about it now. It was a part of growing up. Also at this party the group used drink stir sticks in the shape of naked women. These were called "cocktail sticks". Some were Hawaian, Polynesian and African. The ones I have here are known as the "Ubangi Women" stir sticks. They are probably not politically correct now. In my travels I did find some so they are pictured here. The number indicates the shape of the women at certain ages. Thanks for looking.

Trivia: A blue whales sound can be heard from more than 500 miles away. So could my ex.

VINTAGE, ANTIQUE, CORONATION DAY PIN MAY 12th 1937

These are Coronation pins that were sold to the public by the Poppy Fund of Toronto and the Canadian Legion. Did you Know? Over several months, a fox in Germany stole more than 120 shoes from homes and gardens near Fohren. A forestry worker found the missing footwear in and around the fox's lair. The tiny tooth marks on the leather suggested that the vixen may have used them as toys for her cubs to play with.
